Being passionate is what helps develop one's unique blogging voice. And secondly, I agree with you there - being passionate helps shape ones voice - not only blogging-wise, but really, in general life as well. What we don't - and won't - tolerate in the real world, we should not tolerate online either.
I say - if you have an opinion that brings forth moral accountability, and good ol' "do unto others" attitude, let's hear it! If you're controversial about things that matter - like gay rights, racial equality and such, let's hear it!
